Simulation facilities

With such a large geographical area covered by the Simulation service we have two simulation areas – one at William Harvey Hospital and one at Devon House (near the QEQM site).

The facilities at these suites are similar and include a scenario room, control room and 2 debrief rooms that allow the participants to observe the on-going simulation.

In order to capture the best possible video images our suites are equipped with SMOTS cameras which allow the trained faculty to observe the simulation and aid with comprehensive debriefing.

We are currently using a range of manikins for our suites including SimMan 3G. He has many features including blinking eyes, breathing, sweating and seizures. Read more about the SimMan 3G

In addition to this we have a SimMom, SimJunior and SimBaby in order for us to provide simulation for a variety of specialities. Read more about these patient simulators

We have equipment available to simulate many clinical environments such as operating theatres, A&E resuscitation bays and clinical wards. Please feel free to contact the team for further information.

Meet the manikin

This short video has been made to give you a basic orientation to the manikin that we use regularly. We have only shown some of the commonly used features. We hope that this will make you feel more comfortable when you come to your simulation session.
